Vercel

A preview deployment finishes and the link lands in a pull request. With Vercel connected, that deploy can start an automation: actors open the preview, run your checklists and report back while the change is still in review.

What it does

  • Deployment triggers. Automations start when a deployment is created, succeeds, fails, is canceled, becomes ready or is promoted to production.
  • Deployment context. Actors get the deployment's status and metadata, so they test the build that just shipped.
  • Per-project links. Each Stunt Double project links its own Vercel project.

Before you start

  • Role. Any member can connect their own Vercel account. Turning Vercel on for the workspace takes an owner or admin.
  • Plan. Installing the integration is free. Runs it starts count toward your Stunt Double plan as usual.
  • Vercel access. You need permission to add integrations to the Vercel team that owns your projects.

Set it up

There are two ways in. Both end with the same per-project link.

From Stunt Double

  1. In app.stuntdouble.io, open Integrations from the sidebar and click Vercel.
  2. On Your account, click Connect Vercel. Vercel opens and asks which team and projects to install the integration on. Approve it.
  3. On the step named after your workspace, an owner or admin turns the switch on. It reads On. Actors, checklists and automations here can use it.
  4. On Projects, click Choose for a project and pick a project. Its Settings open on the Integrations tab: choose the project's Vercel project there.

From the Vercel Marketplace

  1. Find Stunt Double in the Vercel Marketplace and install it on your Vercel team.
  2. Open the Vercel card under Integrations. Your account reads Installed from the Vercel Marketplace, and the workspace step reads On for everyone in this workspace. Nobody needs to connect their own account.
  3. On Projects, click Choose for a project and pick the Vercel project for each Stunt Double project.

Start an automation on deploy

  1. Open Automations and create a new one.
  2. Under Trigger Type, choose Vercel Event.
  3. Pick one or more events: Deployment Created, Deployment Succeeded, Deployment Error, Deployment Canceled, Deployment Ready or Deployment Promoted.
  4. Under Deployment Environment, choose Any environment, Production only or Preview only.
  5. Optionally, set a Project Filter to one Vercel project. Leave it empty to trigger for all of them.
  6. Click Create automation, then add the checklists it should run.

Deployment Succeeded fires once the build completes and checks pass, which is the usual choice for testing previews.

What Stunt Double can access

Vercel sets the integration's permissions, and shows them on the install screen before you approve. Stunt Double uses them to list your projects, read deployment status and metadata, and receive deployment events.

Disconnect

Open Integrations, click Vercel, then click Disconnect on Your account. The Disconnect Vercel? dialog lists every workspace that loses Vercel. Confirm, and automations with a Vercel Event trigger stop firing in those workspaces.

To stop one workspace from using Vercel and leave the rest, an owner or admin turns off the workspace switch instead. A Marketplace install is removed from the integrations page of your Vercel team.

Troubleshooting

Vercel shows "Set up Vercel" next to Vercel Event in the trigger list. Vercel is not connected for this workspace yet. Choosing the trigger opens the connect dialog.

The workspace step reads "Off. Ask a workspace owner or admin to turn it on." Only owners and admins can flip the switch.

An automation does not start on deploy. Check that the automation is on, that its events and Deployment Environment match the deploy, and that any Project Filter names the right Vercel project. The integration also has to be installed on the Vercel team that owns that project.

Actors cannot open a preview. Vercel's deployment protection blocks anonymous visitors to previews. Give actors a way past it, such as a protection bypass, or test a deployment they can reach.
