Feedback widget

Add one script tag to your site and anyone looking at a page can drop a pin on the spot that confused them and say why. Each comment arrives in your project with a screenshot of the page as they saw it, the URL and the viewport.

For the full walkthrough, read Collect comments straight from your site. For running reviews with it, read the feedback widget guide.

Before you start

  • Workspace limits. Owners and admins set a workspace-wide ceiling for the widget under Settings, then Security.
  • A site you control. You need to add a script tag to its HTML.

Set it up

  1. Open the project and go to Comments.
  2. Follow the install step. Copy the snippet and paste it just before </body>, or choose With Claude to hand the job to a coding agent.
  3. Load your site. The install step shows Widget detected once the widget checks in.
  4. If the widget also runs somewhere other than your project URL, such as a staging or custom domain, add it under Allowed domains in the project's feedback settings. Requests from anywhere else are refused.

Settings

SettingWhat it does
Toolbar visibleShows or hides the feedback button on your site
Show comments on pageShows existing comment pins on the page
Keyboard shortcutLets visitors press c to start placing a comment
Allowed domainsExtra sites the widget may run on, beyond your project URL
Require sign inOnly signed-in members of this workspace can read or leave comments
Allow local developmentLets localhost and private network addresses use the widget
API KeyClick Rotate to issue a new key

The API key in the snippet identifies your project. It is not a secret: the allowed domains are what control access. Rotating it stops the widget on your site until you update the snippet with the new key.

Remove it

Delete the script tag from your site. To stop an old copy of the snippet working anywhere, rotate the API key.

Troubleshooting

"Widget detected" never appears. Check the snippet is on the page you loaded, and that the domain is your project URL or under Allowed domains. For localhost, turn on Allow local development.

The widget stopped loading after a key rotation. Every copy of the snippet needs the new key. Copy the snippet again from Comments.

The widget will not load even though the domain is allowed. An owner or admin may have limited the widget workspace-wide under Settings, then Security.
